Fife Strathspey & Reel Society

About Us

The Fife Strathspey and Reel Society is currently a group of approximately 30 players who meet on a weekly basis to rehearse under the baton and experienced eye of Elspeth Cook. The Society draws its membership from all walks of life, from learners to experienced players, from young to old. We all have a common interest in promoting the continuation of traditional Scottish music. Well known Scottish compositions are performed as well as music composed and arranged by members.

The Society performs regularly throughout Fife and beyond in all sorts of venues - Church Halls, marquees, barns as well as concert halls and theatres. We are always pleased to be invited to play for local groups, and as we only charge 100, the cost to organisers is low, allowing us to fulfil our objective of performing to the public. At our Annual Rally we are joined by fiddlers and accordion players from other Strathspey and Reel Societies along with some members of the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra.

Over the years, we have raised money for many organisations and charities, while we enjoy learning and playing traditional Scottish music.

New members are always welcome to join the Society. Please get in touch if you would like to come along - or 07766 011047
